This year, the Fast Park family of off-site airport parking companies, with 16 facilities in 12 markets, collected 5,703 pounds of food in support of National Hunger Action Month. All donations benefit local food bank members of Feeding America, the largest food bank network in the country. In addition to collecting food, Fast Park matched one dollar for every dollar or pound of non-perishable food donated by customers. This year, Fast Park is donating a total of $6,626 to Feeding America. Held September 3rd through the 27th, the campaign marked the 5th annual for Fast Park.

“We started this campaign in 2008 due in large part to customer and employee requests.  Prior to that, we had supported our Fast Park communities on an individual basis.  As requests grew specifically for a canned food drive, we decided to consolidate our philanthropic efforts, partnering with a food bank network to make a larger impact,” Melanie Chavez, Principal of Fast Park said. “Over the past 5 years, we have donated almost 20,000 lbs. of food for our neighbors and more than $17,000.”

“It was a pleasure working with Fast Park for their 5th annual canned food drive, especially in September during ‘Hunger Action Month,’ a time when we encourage our community to speak out against hunger,” said Amanda Guzman, Community Events Coordinator at the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, a participating food bank. “We could not provide food assistance to our 48,000 clients each week without the support from companies like Fast Park, who’ve continuously supported our mission of nourishing hungry people and leading the community in ending hunger in Central Texas.”
