Destination Candyland
From Vegas to St. Lucia, there are many sweet destinations to satisfy your candy cravings.
Halloween is a great excuse to indulge in a few extra treats. If you can’t get enough this weekend, why not plan an entire vacation around the sweet stuff. We found some of the best destinations to feed your passion for sugar.
Family Vacation Critic has a list of the best factory tours in the U.S. Of course, Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hershey, Pa. tops the list, but others like the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield, Calif. and Wolfgang Chocolate Factory Tour in York, Pa. may be lesser-known, but equally tasty stops. They even include a quick trip to the Cape Cod potato chip factory in Hyannis, Mass. for those who like a little salty snack with their sweets.
You’ll likely find yourself drooling over the photos in Fodor’s list of 10 Vacations for Chocolate Lovers. We can’t resist adding the Boucan by Hotel Chocolat in St. Lucia to our travel bucket list. Not only can you enjoy cocoa-infused food, drinks and spa treatments, you can make your own chocolate treats.
Relive your youth in these popular candy shops across the U.S. We love the Sugar Factory in Las Vegas! Located in the Paris hotel, you’re sure to find your favorite sweet in the 6,000-square foot shop. It even has a separate restaurant, the Sugar Factory American Brasserie, offering both sweet and savory American culinary favorites featuring (of course) endless decadent desserts served 24 hours a day, seven days a week!
In honor of the greatest book about candy ever written, we couldn’t forget a trip to the Roald Dahl museum. Located an hour outside London, this museum takes you into the life of the man who wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Depending on the time of year you visit, you can attend an Augustus Gloop party, decorate a balloon to look like Voilet Beauregarde or follow the Oomap-Loompa trail around the museum to help them finish their rhymes.
