The Fast Park family of offsite airport parking companies launches its sixth annual Canned Food Drive from September 3 through September 26 in support of National Hunger Action Month. Local collections in 12 markets across the United States including Albuquerque, Austin, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Memphis, Milwaukee, Orlando, Raleigh and Tucson will benefit members of Feeding America (the largest food bank network in the country) and in Miami will benefit the Salvation Army Miami. As in years past, Fast Park will donate one dollar for every pound of nonperishable food donated by customers.

In addition, this year employees are competing to see which facility collects the most. The winning facility’s charity will receive an extra $1,000 donation from Fast Park.

“Our employees and guests have really supported this event in the past,” said Melanie Chavez, Executive Vice President of Construction and Branding. “We hope this added incentive will create some friendly competition and increase the amount of nonperishables and cash that we collect. We can’t wait to see which city pulls out ahead of the rest to help support our local families in need.”

Food banks across the country are struggling to keep up with demand this year. According to Feeding America, one out of eight people are struggling with hunger. Since the annual drive began in 2007, Fast Park has collected more than 20,000 pounds and donated more than $17,000 in cash to support the needs of hungry families.
