Summerfest, a full-blown music-lover’s party on Lake Michigan at Henry Maier Festival Park and Marcus Amphitheater. Starting June 29 thru July 10, this mega-festival features more than 800 acts scheduled to perform from all genres on 11 different stages. Besides all of the music, there’s also plenty of great food, cold beer, interactive exhibits and shopping to enjoy.

We talked to our Milwaukee facility manager, Misty Donough, to get the scoop on tips for attending and what the music festival means to the city of Milwaukee.

How important is this festival to the city of Milwaukee?
It is by far the most important festival to the city. The exposure, as well as the revenue it brings, continues to allow the city to put on the largest music festival in the world. A lot of well-known artists come to the city to showcase their work each year, but it is also a great outlet for all local artists.

What can a visitor expect throughout the festival?
Great music, great food, and a diverse community of people experiencing it together.

Any tips for folks navigating through the airport as they arrive?
Honestly, General Mitchell Airport is one of the easiest airports to navigate so visitors should be just fine as they make their way into the city.

Are there other destinations near the park that people should be sure to visit?
Discovery World and the Art Museum are just north of the Summerfest grounds. The Harley Museum and Miller Park are also great places nearby. If you are looking for something more outdoors, Bradford Beach and Veteran’s Park are both beautiful places to soak up some sun!

Have you attended Summerfest in the past?
Yes, it was a great experience and I can’t wait to go back again!

Who are you most looking forward to seeing this year?
There are so many great artists coming to Summerfest this year, but my top 3 would be Blake Shelton, Alabama Shakes, and Jana Kramer.
