Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the way we make decisions, from purchasing habits and customer service experiences to our favorite activity – the travel planning process. There are many AI-powered tools and technologies our guests can leverage to create a seamless travel experience. Spoiler: You may have been using them for years without even knowing.

Create your itinerary

AI has been garnering plenty of attention thanks to the release in late 2022 of ChatGPT, a text chatbot trained to mimic how people write. This powerful tool engages in human-like dialogue by crawling hundreds of thousands of internet pages to deliver tailored responses to your questions and prompts.

It can be a great starting point and save some legwork if you’re visiting a new city and need recommendations for the best places to stay, eat and explore. AI-powered travel assistant Roam Around can spit out an itinerary for almost anywhere in the world and personalize your experience by duration, preferred activity level, ages of travelers and more. Virtual assistants like Alexa, Siri and Google also can provide recommendations and keep track of travel arrangements.

These tools can fall short in accessing details that can change from moment to moment, like seasonal business hours or weather impacts. ChatGPT also can’t distinguish reliable vs. unreliable information, so that coffee shop that serves the best cappuccino may have closed years ago.

Upgrade your luggage

This is not your grandma’s suitcase. Luggage these days comes equipped with technology that can weigh itself, secure your belongings with an electronic lock and even track its location if you find yourself at baggage claim with no bag. Travel and Leisure shared a list of the 10 best smart luggage pieces of 2023, and while some of these suitcases may cost more than your trip, it’s hard not to be impressed by their capabilities.

Get 24/7 customer service

Travel booking sites and major hotel chains often use chatbots powered by AI to handle customer service queries. This can be especially helpful if you need immediate assistance or have questions about your booking or travel arrangements. Sites like Expedia, Travelocity and Booking.com have utilized AI algorithms for years to serve users the best deals on flights, hotels and activities. These algorithms account for factors like travel dates, budget and location preferences to suggest the best options. Expedia’s virtual travel agent helps customers cancel a flight, use an airline credit or learn what amenities a hotel offers. Say goodbye to on-hold music.

While you won’t see a self-driving shuttle bus or robot directing traffic at our facilities, we do have some exciting technological investments planned for Fast Park facilities that will enhance our guests’ experiences. Stay tuned for more details later this summer.
