Cycling pros
Serious cyclers will definitely want to check out Gear Patrol’s list of the best road cycling routes in America. From the Oregon coast to the Champlain Islands in Vermont, there’s definitely no shortage of picture-worthy scenery. These places are definitely worth planning a trip to at least once.
Family-friendly spots
A cycling vacation doesn’t have to be just for adults though. One of the best family-friendly bike spots is Cape Cod, which has many trails including the Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT). The CCRT was one of the first bike trails to be converted from an old rail line, making it pretty flat. Other good spots include Chicago with its lakefront trail and the trail around Stanley Park in Vancouver.
Statewide cycling
If you already have your vacation planned out, check out bicycling.com’s list of best bike rides in every state. Who knows, maybe the best route happens to be where you’re already headed. It’s always worth checking to see if there’s a bike rental shop somewhere near the route so you don’t have to bring anything with you.
International routes
For anyone who wants to take their cycling experience to the next level, there are many great international spots to hit the road. Finish your own little portion of the Tour de France by completing the Geneva to Nice cycle tour.
