Adventure vacations are one of the newest travel trends. Today, we’re looking around the world to find trips that combine beautiful scenery with activities that likely will get your heart racing.

If you want to stay in the U.S., NBC News created a list of the ten greatest U.S. adventure vacations. These trip suggestions range from llama trekking in California’s High Sierra to climbing Alaska’s Denali, the highest point in North America. Our favorite suggestion is rafting through the Grand Canyon!

For those who are looking for experiences around the world, the Travel Channel offers suggestions like scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, heli-skiing in Alaska and outrunning the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. We’d love to try taking a camel caravan through the Sahara Desert.

People who want to view the world from hundreds of feet in the air can peruse Travel + Leisure’s list of the world’s coolest helicopter rides. Whether it’s soaring above Hong Kong’s skyline or Hawaiian volcanoes, these trips are an exciting way to see the world. The ride above Rio de Janeiro is now on our bucket list!

Are you ready to book your trip? Here are a few tips to make sure you find the right fit for you. Choose activities that you will enjoy and are physically ready to complete. Each destination typically offers a variety of things to do so even if you’re traveling with a non-adventurous type there’s likely something that will keep them engaged as well. However, it’s always a good idea to plan ahead for them just to be safe. Since adventure vacations can be located in remote areas, always bring extra essentials like batteries and toiletries as you may have trouble locating them at your destination.
