Not all travelers pack the same – and we love that! Fast Park drivers have experienced it all, from hefty bags that could fit a small family to sleek backpacks that only fit travel necessities. As our drivers can attest, travel for our guests is not a one-bag-fits-all approach. However, when it comes to buying a new piece of luggage, there are a few common considerations:

  • Size: Be mindful of your packing purpose, preferences and tendencies are great first steps. Do you primarily travel for work or pleasure? Do you pack just the basics or a little extra … and then some? Do you always pick up a memento or two? If you fly with a specific airline, its luggage restrictions and fees will need to be considered as well.
  • Weight: While you’re reviewing size restrictions, also pay attention to weight limits if you plan to check a bag. That hard shell and those rugged wheels may come at a price, especially if you’re already prone to overpacking! Luggage weighing just a pound over the limit can add as much as $100 to your checked bag fees – EACH WAY!
  • Durability: All luggage takes a beating, from being rolled across rough surfaces, shoved into overhead bins and plopped onto carousels. Look for sturdy materials like high-density nylon or polycarbonate, reinforced corners and strong zippers and stitching.
  • Maneuverability: From getting to the terminal on time to catching that connecting flight, your luggage must keep up. Look for ergonomic designs and wheels that offer 360-degree movement and that can handle both smooth and uneven terrain.
  • Special Features: On the exterior, look for handy zippered pockets and comfortable grips or shoulder straps. Inside, check for organization helpers such as special compartments for shoes, tech or toiletries.

Bottom line – Your perfect luggage must suit you, your travel requirements and your style. Want to maximize your space in whatever luggage you choose? Check out our blog post on packing like a pro!
